Frequently Asked Questions
It’s a revolutionary and affordable mosquito repellent system that consists of:
• The SkeeterHazer-6 device which is Bluetooth programmable and runs on batteries (not included) or can be plugged-in using the included 6′ USB C cable and plug.
• The SkeeterHazerFluid is a fresh smelling mosquito repellent that effectively deters unwanted
mosquitoes from semi-enclosed residential and commercial spaces when used as directed.
• Residential spaces can include balconies, porches, terraces, and garages.
• Commercial spaces can include breezeways, outdoor dining, ventilated warehouses & covered loading docks. The device has a slim design, measuring 5.5”W x 7”H x 2.5”D, has 6 fluid ounces of capacity and is effective for semi-enclosed outdoor spaces from 50 to 500 square feet.
The system is called a “hazer” because the word “haze” is being used as both a noun and a verb. As a noun, haze is the fine vapor that is produced by the SkeeterHazer-6 device. As a verb, the SkeeterHazer-Fluid hazes the mosquitoes.
• Essential oils like the ones used in our devices are commonly blended and diffused indoors to create what is known as “Scent Marketing.”
• Every major hotel has its own proprietary scent. They use similar devices worldwide to create a familiar guest experience across their brands.
• Additionally, these types of oils are commonly used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and spa therapy industries for personal care products.
• Our mosquito repellent is considered a minimum risk pesticide and exempt from registration with the EPA under FIFRA 25(b).
• Generally, it is safe when it is used as directed. Read the product label and SDS for more information.
• Our combination of device and fluid produces a fine vapor “haze” (less than one micron in size) that stays in the air a long time allowing for the active ingredients to encounter and repel the mosquitoes trying to bite you inside the treated area.
• Fans in low speed of any type (ceiling, floor or wall) used inside the space can help circulate the haze to maximize its effectiveness.
• Using a smart phone or tablet, you can program the device to automatically turn ON and OFF during multiple days of the week and different times of the day or night with varying intensities. Ensuring it’s working, even when you’re not paying attention to it.
• It should be placed inside a semi-enclosed outdoor living space away from the most open area and away from any food preparation area.
• You can mount it to a wall using the included bracket or you can set it on a flat surface. We recommend you also purchase the Acrylic Stand if setting it on a flat surface.
• You can plug it in or use it with batteries if the best placement is too far from an outlet.
• How high depends on your use and air flow, but not closer than 1 foot below ceiling to prevent staining the ceiling with the haze.
While the device’s housing is water resistant, it is not waterproof, so we do not recommend placing it where it will come in direct contact with the weather. Additionally, the fine haze may be blown away and not be effective if the open space is too windy. On the other hand, you can take it camping and use it in open spaces on calm nights when the mosquitoes are more likely active. You might have to increase the intensity.
No, we do not recommend using this product inside. Our SkeeterHazerFluid is formulated and registered for outdoor use only.
You may need to use multiple devices for larger spaces to ensure proper coverage.
Fluid consumption is based on how you program it to meet the size and openness of your covered outdoor living space, mosquito activity and how many hours per day it is operating.
The six-ounce bottle of SkeeterHazerFluid will last approximately 350 hours running 24/7 at maximum output (30 seconds ON/WORK, 90 seconds OFF/PAUSE). These 350 hours which translate to just under two weeks can be extended to several months based on how you program the diffuser: days per week, hours per day and seconds it’s working vs pausing during those days and times.
Most people set it to run 7 days a week, 12 hours per day. At this setting and at maximum output to cover 500 square feet, the bottle will last one month. If running 6 hours per day, it will last two months. Setting the output to cover 250 square feet, doubles the time the bottle will last. The smaller the space and the less hours per day the device is running, the longer the bottle will last.
If you want to “set it and forget it” we recommend running it seven days a week, 12 hours per day (during the times you will most likely be outside) and set the output based on the size of the space you want to keep free from mosquitoes according to the instructions that come with the diffuser.
Absolutely! If you can program an alarm on your smart phone, you can program this device. It allows for limitless flexibility on days of the week, times of day and intensity. You can program it to WORK and PAUSE at different settings than what is shown in the above table. These settings are just recommended to allow for accurate fluid consumption calculations.
Yes you can. We recommend you program it to run 24 hours a day and turn it ON and OFF using the Bluetooth connection. You can even do it from inside as long as you are within Bluetooth range.
You don’t have to. Just remove the nozzle assembly and discard or recycle the old bottle. Unscrew the cap from the new bottle, insert the nozzle/tube assembly into the new bottle, screw it in, put it back in the device, and you are back to being mosquito free…
SkeeterHazerFluid is not approved for use “near, or in food cooking, preparation or serving areas.” The intent is to prevent SkeeterHazerFluid residue on food contact surfaces, so it is important to understand airflow when considering placement of the SkeeterHazer-6 diffuser. We recommend you clean any food contact surface prior to use.
While it may repel other flying insects, we have not tested nor labeled it as such and do not make any guarantees or statements to this effect.
It’s a repellent and not an insecticide, so it is not meant to kill insects. We have not tested it on all pollinators, but we have noticed during our testing that it does not appear to affect foraging honeybees.
The smell is subjective, but it has a fresh scent with a mild combination of cinnamon, mint and clove. Our goal is that it smells neutral enough for the positive effect of the mosquito repellency to far outweigh the potential negative effect of the scent.
We do not recommend you do that. This “waterless” diffuser device is designed for use with 100% oil-based fluids and adding water may damage the nozzle and void the warranty. Besides, the water and oil will separate, and the water will sit at the bottom of the bottle while the oil floats on top.
We do not recommend it due to the way the product is formulated and approved for use by the Federal and State governments. Additionally, this may affect its ability to repel mosquitoes.
Absolutely not! This product is not intended for that use. There are plenty of other products intended for that purpose. Read the product label for more information.
• It’s very cost-effective over time, especially when compared to other solutions.
• It can work proactively, so you don’t need to remember to turn it ON after you start getting bitten.
• It can also be programmed to turn itself OFF when you are not using the space.
• Or it can work on demand, so you only turn in ON and OFF when needed and save even more money on fluid refills.
